Radio Gurune 99.3FM Rural Broadcasting Station is located in Bolgatanga, capital of the Upper East region of Ghana. The Gurune Community broadcasting and Multimedia Initiative (GCBS) is the sole operator of radio Gurune. GCBS is a registered   not-for-profit company under Ghana company registration code with registration number G-38,328.Radio transmission is received by over 600,000 communities in the region. Radio Gurune touching over 1,000,000 lives directly and indirectly with our live changing community participatory programmes.


1.    Vision Statement

To use radio as a voice to help develop the potentials of the people of Bolgatanga and its surrounding settlements and communities to the highest level through total education; good sanitation practices, where women will be accorded equality and dignity; modernization of farming and other economic activities; advancing education and health issues; preservation of the Gurune language and culture as a living testimony of their identity.

2.    Mission

To promote education, healthy communities, the positive cultural values and creative identity of the people of Bolgatanga.

3.    Objectives


To achieve the major objective stated above, Radio Gurune adopts the approach of strategic engagement of all stakeholders in dialogue and sensitization towards equality and dignity for women in the exercise of rights and responsibilities. In addition, the station also maintains a purposeful advocacy and communication in the local language with the aim to attain:
·         Industry leadership in the promotion of community development
·         United people for a peaceful co-existence
·         Improved agricultural practices
·         Poverty reduction
·         Appreciation of culture
·         A well educated and informed society
·         Healthy living conditions
·         Human Rights
·         Gender equality

4.    Management Structure

The governing body of the station is the 15 member Executive Council; all policies are developed and approved by the council. The Executive Director supervises the implementation of the policies and ensures that appropriate strategies and objectives are designed to achieving the mission and vision of the station. The management team is made up of the heads of programmes, news and current affairs, technical and administration/Marketing.
